5-1. Side Body Control Module
In accordance with the evolution of a centralized architecture, multiple individual controller modules in the vehicle’s side body zone are integrated into a single controller to reduce expense, increase power efficiency, and advance future scalability of new technologies.
We plan to investigate the integration of various electronic equipment in the vehicle to maximize the benefits of cost reduction and efficient management, based on experiences of mass production of controllers in various business areas such as lamps, chassis, mirrors, and others.
5-1. Battery Management System
It is a system that enables monitoring and controlling of IBS* that detects internal combustion engine battery status, an auxiliary battery for stable power supply to the electronics even after the engine is off, and a hybrid/electric vehicle high voltage battery for their optimal performances.
SL completed advance development of lithium-ion starter batteries, power auxiliary batteries, and HEV BMS* based on pre-design verification capability through functional safety engineering and hardware/electromagnetic analysis along with the sensing technology through the years of IBS R&D and mass production experiences.
For the era of electric vehicles, we are developing different types of EV BMS and battery systems. This is our efforts to pursue electrification with our products to create an eco-friendly and carbon neutral environment and to offer convenience and efficiency to the customers and drivers.
* IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor): A sensor system that detects internal state such as voltage and current of the vehicle battery to help relevant devices operate in optimal conditions.
* BMS (Battery Management System): A system that detects internal state such as voltage and current of high voltage lithium batteries in real time and controls them to be in their optimal conditions.
5-3. Sensor Integrated Application
We are integrating sensor fusion such as camera, LIDAR, FIR and deep learning algorithm with headlamp/rear lamp/front grill to provide driving convenience and safety to the driver.
Communication lighting sensor fusion lamp system detects static/dynamic objects (vehicle, pedestrian, animal, potholes, etc.) from the forward and side view that are 3 to 4 times farther than the driver's field of view at day and night. It also identifies correct size, position, and distance for short/long distance objects from the rear/side view, giving side/rear blind spot alerts to surrounding vehicles.
In addition to providing convenience and safety to drivers, we are researching and developing core sensing technologies and recognition algorithms for the upcoming autonomous driving era and striving to maximize customer satisfaction
